If you experience a life event and want to change your coverage, go to HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees).

New child
(birth, adoption, or foster)
  • Review the company’s leave policies.
  • Notify your manager about the timing of your leave.
  • Visit the “Request a leave of absence or accommodation” tile in HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or reach out to Benefits@echostar.com (for legacy EchoStar employees), to begin processing your leave.
  • Review EchoStar’s benefits for programs you may want to take advantage of, such as a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
  • Get a Social Security number for your new child, if an application has not yet been submitted.
  • Add your new child to your benefits coverage and make any other applicable benefit changes within 60 days of birth or adoption or placement in your home.
  • Consider updating your life insurance beneficiary information, if applicable.
  • Consider updating your retirement plan beneficiary information.
  • Change your tax withholdings in UKG (for legacy DISH employees) or in Launchpad (for Legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Get your health benefits questions answered by contacting Ask Barista (for legacy DISH employees) or email Benefits@EchoStar.com (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Notify your manager of your return to work and discuss flexible working arrangements.
  • Complete any required return to work forms.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

This is a qualified life event. You have 60 days to make benefits changes after the birth of a child or placement for adoption. Visit HR Link, accessible through either The HOP or OKTA (for legacy DISH employees), or in Workday, accessible through Global eSource (for legacy EchoStar employees) to adjust your benefits coverage.

Getting married
(or new common law marriage)
  • Update your personal information, if necessary, in HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or in Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • If you’re changing your name, get a new Social Security card.
  • Order new business cards and new corporate credit card, if necessary.
  • Change or update your benefits coverage within 30 days.
  • Update your life insurance beneficiary information, if applicable.
  • Update your retirement plan beneficiary.
  • Update your tax withholdings in UKG (for legacy DISH employees) or in Launchpad (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Update your direct deposit, if necessary, in UKG (for legacy DISH employees) or in Launchpad (for legacy EchoStar employees).

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting married, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit the HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or in Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees) website to adjust your benefits coverage.

Getting divorced
(or legally separated, ending a partnership)
  • Update your personal information, if necessary, in HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or in Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • If you’re changing your name, get a new Social Security card.

If the 30 day window has passed, you’ll need to contact the HR Operations Team to remove your former spouse as a dependent. Submit a service request in HR Link (for legacy DISH employees) or in Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees) under the benefits category.

Death of a Dependent
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Review the company’s bereavement and personal leave policies.
  • Update your benefits coverage, if necessary. For help, contact Ask Barista (for legacy DISH employees) or email Benefits@EchoStar.com (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Contact the Social Security Administration to end benefits received by the deceased (if disabled or retired) and to determine if benefits are available to the surviving spouse and dependent children.
  • Send proper documentation to the HR Operations Team by submitting a service request in HR Link under the benefits category (for legacy DISH employees) or in Workday (for legacy EchoStar employees). The HR Operations Team will initiate a life insurance claim if necessary.
  • Update your life insurance beneficiary, if necessary.
  • Update your retirement plan beneficiary, if necessary.
  • Update your tax withholdings in UKG (for legacy DISH employees) or in Launchpad (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Update your direct deposit, if necessary, in UKG (for legacy DISH employees) or in Launchpad (for legacy EchoStar employees).

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as a death of a dependent, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit HR Link, accessible through either The HOP or OKTA (for legacy DISH employees), or in Workday, accessible through Global eSource (for legacy EchoStar employees) to adjust your benefits coverage. If the 30 day window has passed, you’ll need to contact the HR Operations Team to remove your deceased dependent from your coverage. Change in work status
(e.g., to part-time or full-time)
  • Get answers to questions you may have about your change in work status contacting the HR Operations Team. For help, contact Ask Barista (for legacy DISH employees) or email Benefits@EchoStar.com (for legacy EchoStar employees).
  • Adjust your benefits coverage, if your eligibility for benefits has changed, within 30 days of your work status change.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

  • Enroll in EchoStar benefits coverage, if necessary, within 30 days of the loss of other benefits coverage, or within 60 days of the loss of state coverage.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as gaining or losing other benefits coverage, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event, or 60 days to make benefits changes after a loss of state coverage.
